When is Passover

First we have to determine the parts of the 24 hour day. YaHWeH starts the day at sundown, which is when the sun passes over the horizon. This is what we call twilight today, and it lasts about an hour till it is dark. This one hour period is referred to as "between the evenings" or "at even" in English Translations of the Scriptures.

Twilight is called ereb עֶרֶב in Hebrew/Aramaic,and when we look at the instructions in [Lev. 23] we will see the Passover is eaten on the Fourteenth of the First Month...

Leviticus 23:4-6

4. These are the feasts of YHWH, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their seasons.

5. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is YHWH's passover.

This makes it clear as to when the Passover is... it is on the Fourteenth just after sundown. But let us confirm this to make sure we keep it at the right time.

Numbers 9:1-3

And YHWH spoke unto Moshe in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Mitsrayim/Egypt, saying,

2. Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.

3. In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.

There is no question as to what day the Passover is... it is IN the Fourteenth Day. Not in the Fifteenth Day but IN the Fourteenth Day.

This is reiterated...

Numbers 9:11-13

11. The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

12. They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.

It seems very clear the Passover is kept on the Fourteenth eaten after sundown on the Fourteenth and none of it is to be there in the morning of the Fourteenth.

But let us look at the first Passover when it occurred and the instructions...

Exodus 12:1-12

1. And YHWH spoke unto Moshe and Aharown in the land of Mitsraim/Egypt saying,

2. This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

3. Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house.

4. And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

5. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats.

6. And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. (ereb in Hebrew)

7. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

8. And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

9. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

10. And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaine of it until the morning you shall burn with fire.

11. And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is YHWH's passover.

12. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the elohim (Princes) of Mitsrayim/Egypt I will execute judgment: I am YHWH.

13. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Mitsrayim/Egypt.

14. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to YHWH throughout your generations; you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

All of this occurs on the Fourteenth. When is the Feast of Unleavened Bread and how long is it?

Leviticus 23

6. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto YHWH: seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

7. In the first day you shall have an holy convocation: you shall do no servile work therein.

8. But you shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: you shall do no servile work therein.

So the beginning of the fifteenth is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. It is kept from the Fifteenth to the Twenty First or seven days.

Exodus 12

18. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

The Passover is on the Fourteenth and the Feast of unleavened Bread starts on the Fifteenth till the Twenty First.

Same thing in Numbers/Bemidbar...

Numbers 9:5

5. And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that YHWH commanded Moshe, so did the children of Israel.

There is only one "even" or (ereb) H6153 per day and it is just after sundown.

What is the time of day just before sundown?

Deuteronomy 16:6

6. But at the place which YHWH thy Elohim shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou came forth out of Egypt.

Passover is kept at ereb/even/twilight H6153 on the Fourteenth in Egypt/Mitsrayim and when did the Israelites leave Egypt? At the going down of the sun. What is the Hebrew word used for before sundown or "at the going down"..... bow H935.

It isn't hard to figure out, the day starts at twilight/ereb and ends at the going down/bow of the sun.

Remember, they kept Passover while in Egypt when the last plague occurred which was the killing of all the firstborn of man and beast. This is the reason why Pharaoh Akhenaten told Moshe to leave Egypt. When they arrived at the borders of Egypt at the place called Sukkot, the sun was going down or "bow" in Hebrew.

When they left Egypt/Mitsrayim it was a time much to be observed in the future...

Exodus 12:41-43

41. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of YHWH went out from the land of Egypt.

42. It is a night to be much observed unto YHWH for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of YHWH to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.

They left Egypt/Mitsrayim because of what occurred on the Passover night, and when they got to the border of Egypt this is a celebration "much to be observed".

The Feast of Unleavened Bread starts at sundown of the Fifteenth, which is 23 hours after the Passover service...

Leviticus 23:6-8

6. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto YHWH: seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

7. In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: you shall do no servile work therein.

8. But you shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

It is very plain and it isn't confusing. But what did Mashiach/Messiah do? First He said that He would be in the grave for three days and three nights, which is the only proof that proves He is the Mashiach/Messiah...

Matthew 12:38-40

The Scribes and Pharisees Ask for a Sign

38. Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

39. But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

40. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

One of the best pictures of those days is found here...

Mashiach/Messiah told two of the Apostles to go and prepare the Passover meal...

Matthew 26:18-19

18. And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master said, "My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at your house with my disciples."

19. And the disciples did as יהושע/YaHUsha had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

In that fateful week the Mashiach/Messiah kept the Passover at the beginning of the Fourteenth of the First Month just as the Israelites did and both kept them on the same day of the week. (It is occurring exactly the same in 2017.) .

After the two Apostles prepared the Passover meal, Luke the reporter said this...

Luke 22:13-15

13. And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

14. And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

15. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

Again, it is very plain to see this meal is the Passover that the two Apostles prepared and when it was between the evenings/at even/twilight/ereb in Hebrew, on the Fourteenth, they sat down to keep the Passover as YHWH instructed.

That night after the meal יהושע/YaHUsha was taken by the Pharisees of Judaism, beaten with fists, clubs and had His beard pulled out, and coerced the Romans to give Him the lash of 39 stripes with metal hooks, and then to crucify Him to death. Never did the Romans give both the lash and crucifixion, it was one or the other...

He יהושע/YaHUsha died that afternoon at 3 PM on the preparation day which is the First Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is a High Shabbat/Sabbath...

John 19:31 (KJV)

31. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day), besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

This was not the weekly Shabbat/Sabbath as the false religions of today think, but rather it was the commanded Shabbat/Sabbath mentioned in [Lev. 23:7] that the false religions don't keep. Only the relatives could take the bodies of the executed and Joseph of Arimathea was that relative. They had to hurry to bury him before this High Shabbat/Sabbath came at ereb/twilight of the Fifteenth which would be our Wednesday at sundown at bow/going down of the sun.

Interestingly the Jews had not yet kept Passover as they keep it on the Fifteenth...

John 18:28

28. Then led they יהושע/YaHUsha from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

To this day the Jews of YaHUdah keep the Passover on the Fifteeth rather then on the Fourteeth.

Starting at sundown of the Fifteenth on Wednesday to Eighteenth on Saturday just before sundown, is three days and three nights, the only sign He was the True Mashiach/Messiah but the Jews refused to acknowledge.

יהושע/YaHUsha the Mashiah/Messiah was resurrected at bow on what we now call Saturday before sundown.

At sundown the two Marys rushed to the grave during twilight on a full moon only to find the grave empty...

John 20:1 King James Version (KJV)

20. The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

The day starts at sundown, the beginning of ereb/twilight, which is only an hour long. Some time shortly after it got dark, the grave was empty because YaHWeH His FATHER had already resurrected the Mashiach יהושע/YaHUsha.

This is the First day of the week and is also the day of the Wave Sheaf offering, which is Barley, the grain that represents יהושע/YaHUsha...

If anyone wants to know when Passover is, this is how you can figure it out. It will occur at sundown on April 11/2017. Many still follow the temporary Hillel calendar and this year it will be two days off.
