The Feast of Pentecost

The word “pente” is Greek for fifty. The word “pentecost” in Greek means “count fifty”.

In Hebrew this Feast is called Shabuot or “seven sevens” counting seven weeks, which is forty nine days and the following day being the fiftieth is when this Feast occurs. This Feast always occurs on the First Day of the Week, or as Scripture reveals, on the morrow after the sabbath. The counting starts from the weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened bread. This is the “seven sevens” or seven weeks that the name Shabuot means, in order to arrive at the right day.

As with every day, YaHWeH begins the day at sundown and the Feast of Shabuot begins at the end of the Weekly Sabbath.

Leviticus 23:15-18

15. And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete.

16. Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YHWH.

17. Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto YHWH.

18. And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto YHWH, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto YHWH.

The Feast of Pentecost is also called the Feast of Weeks because seven weeks are counted to arrive at the right date. As Scripture reveals, Pentecost always occurs “on the morrow after the Sabbath”, which is the fiftieth day, hence Pentecost or “count fifty”.

This Feast of Shabuot has a lot of significance as it took the Israelites fifty days to get to Mt. Sinai in Arabia. It is at this time that YaHWeH laid out the terms of that Covenant between all twelve Tribes and YaHWeH Himself. In the New Testament or New Covenant, the Feast of Shabuot is when YaHWeH gave HIS Ruach ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit) to the called out ones in Acts [Acts 2:1-4]. The word Ruach in Hebrew means wind or breath, and is used as a metaphor depicting YaHWeH's mind and power. Only one hundred and twenty people showed up on Pentecost to receive this power [Acts 1:15], and this was the beginning or inception of the Assembly that YHWSHA the Messiah started. They are the “firstfruits” of humanity that are being “called out” to be prepared for the job description offered in the New Covenant. Without this “power” of the Ruach ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit), it would be impossible for any human to attain the level required and to complete the prerequisits and terms of the New Covenant.

It is YaHWeH Himself that chooses the individuals [John 6:44], and these will have to do what Shimon Kepha (Simon Peter) said to do in [Acts 2:38], which is the first part of the process of the New Covenant. These “called out ones” are the people to whom the New Testament is written to. As the Father chooses the bride for the groom, so YaHWeH being the Father to YHWSHA the only begotten Son and Messiah, is having His bride chosen for Him by His Father, to whom He will marry when He returns with His Father's Government.

YaHWeH married Israel and divorced “her” because of Israel's infidelity. She should have been the people that were to be “kings and priests”, to teach the rest of humanity but they failed miserably, so YaHWeH HIMSELF chose the people [John 6:44] to take their place and HIS only begotten Son will marry these “called out ones” at His return.

These “called out ones” are reffered to as “the saints” and “the elect” and the chast bride, that will marry the returning Messiah, who is the Groom.....

Revelation 19:9

9. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

The Feast of Pentecost is also called the Feast of Weeks but is also called the Feast of Firstfruits. The firstfruits are those whom YaHWeH is choosing for a specific job description [Rev. 5:10 and Rev. 1:6], and these people, if they make it, will be the “first” to be harvested by YaHWeH. Our Creator YaHWeH chose the Spring harvest to depict the firstfruits of the year symbolic of those that will be harvested of all humanity. The rest of the harvest is the greater harvest depicted by the Fall Harvest in an agricultural society, and the Feast of Tabernacles and the Last Great Day is representative of this harvest.

Those who are resurrected at the return of YHWSHA the Messiah are in the First Resurrection [Rev. 20:5-6] and are the Firstfruits of humanity to be given immortality. The fact that this is the “first” reveals there is another resurrection, otherwise it wouldn't be necessarry to say “first”. The second resurrection is for the purpose of harvesting the Fall Harvest.

Each Feast Day represents an aspect in the process of Salvation and Pentecost/Shabuot is a celebration of the Firstfruits being harvested by our Creator YaHWeH.
